Following in the hotness of the recent Pheek 12', Kenneth James Gibson ([a]pendics.shuffle) delivers one of his best singles to date for his own Adjunct label. Much more raw and jackin’ than his releases on Orac, the lead cut 'Dirty Bed' is an instantly addictive low-end monster, with an ominously sleazy vocal and some aggressively wet stabs of acid. The Westend Ghetto remix of “Dirty Bed” is rather similar but gives the track a bit more room to breathe, cutting up the vocals and using them more sparsely. Rounding things off is another bass-heavy swinger, “Optimal Clamour, that veers close to sounding like a nasty dub of Green Velvet. Recommended.

Hot Guardian & The Freestyle Formula (12inch)
The Grand Poobah of wicked beats himself, Kenneth James Gibson, returns after the funky contact high of the Helicopter Hearts CD wears off with this equally rewarding 12" on his new Adjunct-Audio imprint, and this time he's not afraid of getting a little spiked cherry Kool-Aid on his white velvet fez. "Dirty Bed" initiates the 18 minute running time by fabulously thumping the neodymium drivers in your earbuds into a sweaty frenzy, that is, if your nodding head won't have the earbuds falling out when you try to keep up. On the flipside, the mix by Westend Ghetto of "Bed" adds a little magic food coloring into the mix, and visions of day-glo animated scribbles gyrate in time with the fractured melodies and insistent beats. If the first 2 tracks were addends, then "Optimal Clamour" is the sum of their quantities with shiny popping figures appearing in and out of focus from the flashing strobe lights at a transcendental Tuesday night robo-disco. Definitely a worthy addition to any record bag, be it a virtually weightless MP3-filled playlist in Traktor or a good old-fashioned 300 pound reinforced canvas sling-back.

"Daddeln.exe" heisst der erste Track und das beschreibt auch ganz gut, worum es auf dieser Platte hier geht. Lässig die Zeit verkorksen mit ein par knarzigen Beats und upliftenden Grooves für die Nacht, die eh viel zu wenig Spass macht, weshalb nicht dann einfach etaws wilder mit ihr umgehen. Stellenweise überraschend weit in die tiefe gegroovt sind die Tracks auf dieser EP, dann aber wirklich stellenweise so lässig, dass man sich irgendeine Ritze im Musikuniversum zwischen Lusine und Areal vorstellen kann, in der dieses Gewächs wuchert und seine Scherze treibt. Leider etwas dumpf im Sound, weil einfach zu viele Tracks auf der Platte sind, aber sonst können wir dem Titel nur zustimmen. 4,5/5

12122003 we're currently working on our first ep on voltage musique, some
first patterns and sketches are ready to rock, the ep will hopefuly be out
in februrary 2004 and will contain really wicked tunes, check that feedback
metope @ areal just gave us concerning the first finished track called
"elvis can't sing":
"Das ist ein sehr schöner Track, der es mal wieder voll verdient hätte auch den
Massen zu Gute zu kommen. Ich finde vorallem das 8bit geschrabbel unten drunter
einfach nur geil. Vocal ist auch super -- Elvis can't sing ;) Bei 2:14 das Break ist
auch ein Knaller...Das bei 3:05 auch :)
